Accomplished financial and sustainability executive with over 35 years of global experience across mining, natural resources, and industrial sectors. Throughout his extensive career—with significant tenures in Zimbabwe, South Africa, Canada, and Australia at Anglo American plc—Hugh has held pivotal roles, including Finance Director, Group Financial Controller, Vice-President Finance for the Ferrous Business, and Chief Financial Officer for Peace River Coal. In his final Anglo American assignment, he was instrumental in transforming an underperforming coal operation by slashing unit operating costs by over one-third in four years and establishing cost management practices that became the benchmark for the Anglo American bulk division.

Hugh joined Conuma Resources as CFO in September 2017, where he built and refined the company’s financial, commercial, and IT disciplines and played a key role in executing a US$200 million bond transaction. Transitioning to Chief Sustainability Officer in April 2021, he pioneered the company's inaugural Sustainability and Climate Change reports, implemented SASB and TCFD reporting frameworks, and led a successful carbon-intensity reduction program that significantly lowered emissions through various strategic initiatives.
