Derek is the Associate Director for the City of Vancouver’s Neighbourhood Energy Utility, overseeing the district heating network that has reframed how we view waste by turning sewage (yes SEWAGE) into an energy resource that provides low carbon heat to some of Vancouver’s most vibrant neighbourhoods. Armed with a Master’s in Chemical Engineer and a gritty determination Derek is passionate about decarbonizing buildings, one neighbourhood at a time.
