Bob Purcell
Bob Purcell is the founder and President of the Purcell Advisory Group, a boutique advisory firm that provides leadership, strategy, and technology advice to companies and investors. He has over 30 years of experience in the highly competitive automotive industry globally in creating and launching new technologies, business models and organizations.
Bob is considered an industry expert in strategic planning for electrification and often referred to as a true pioneer in electric drive technologies , lithium-ion batteries, and electrified vehicle development, as well as their manufacturing, and commercialization. In fact, Bob is often referred to as the "Father of the EV1" having led the engineering and manufacturing teams that developed and built GM's groundbreaking "consumer ready" EV1 electric vehicle in 1996, based on the original GM IMPACT BEV concept car shown Internationally in the early 90s. Having left General Motors after 26-years in 2008 , Bob Purcell has since held numerous senior leadership and board positions within the electrified space at companies such as Boston-Power, VIA Motors, and Protean.
As such Bob has been the recipient of multiple industry awards, including ‘Technology Pioneer’ from the World Economic Forum and several distinguished General Motors Chairman Honors Awards.
Bob holds an MBA from the Indiana University Kelley School of Business and completed the Executive Development Program at the Dartmouth College Tuck School of Business.Bob currently sits on the Advisory Board for the Canadian electrification company Plunk EV and helping to guide them in providing environmental, social, and economically sustainable transportation and truly green-living solutions for Canadian businesses and communities.
